The heartbeat that carries us forward everyday, one that accelerates at a moment of suspense, or eases with a stroke of relaxation, is the same heartbeat that we rarely listen to.

To be a good drummer is to be in sync with our heartbeats, to move in tandem with everyone else, to be at peace with ourselves. It’s a constant adjustment and re-adjustment that keeps us in the present. The last beat is gone, and the next beat is yet to come.
